Characteristics of UHNWPE sheets

Mechanical properties

Its abrasion resistance strength is 7 – 10 times that of carbon steel and 10 times that of stainless steel.
Its impact strength is as high as over 150kJ/m². The impact strength at room temperature is five times that of ABS.

Friction and lubrication

The coefficient of dynamic friction is as low as 0.05 – 0.11, and it can still maintain good sliding performance under non – lubricated conditions.
Its self – lubricating property and anti – adhesion property are remarkable. With an extremely low surface energy, it can effectively prevent materials from adhering, reducing cleaning costs.

Chemical stability

It has excellent resistance to most chemical substances. Except for concentrated sulfuric acid (>75%) and concentrated nitric acid (>20%), it is hardly eroded by acids, alkalis, salts and other corrosive media.

Thermodynamics and environment

It remains ductile at the liquid helium temperature of – 269℃ and can be used for low – temperature components in the nuclear industry. Its heat distortion temperature is 85℃.It is resistant to aging and ultraviolet rays, even if buried on the ground or underground for 50 years.

Lightweighting and processing

It has a density of only 0.93 – 0.98g/cm³, about one – eighth that of steel, which makes it easy to handle and install.

Health and safety

UHMWPE is non – toxic, odorless and tasteless, meeting the standards of the US FDA and USDA. It can come into direct contact with food and medicine.

Other characteristics

The impact energy absorption value is the highest among plastics, which can effectively reduce mechanical vibration and noise.The breakdown voltage is 50kV/mm, making it suitable for the field of electrical engineering.
