Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)rod
Product Information
Polytetrafluoroethylene rod is a type of rod made of unfilled polytetrafluoroethylene resin (including regenerated
polytetrafluoroethylene resin) that is suitable for processing various gaskets, seals, lubricating materials that work
in corrosive media, as well as electrical insulation parts used at various frequencies. It is formed by pressing, paste
extrusion, or plunger extrusion processes.

The characteristics of PTFE rods
High temperature resistance, and the range of operating temperature is very wide (from -200 degrees Celsius
to +260 degrees Celsius).
Basically resistant to all chemical substances except for some fluorides and alkaline metal liquids.
The extremely low friction coefficient gives it good self-lubricating properties.
Excellent mechanical properties include anti-aging properties, especially for applications in bending and swinging.
Outstanding flame retardancy (conforming to ASTM-D635 and D470 test procedures), and it is classified as a
flame retardant material in the air.
Excellent insulation properties (regardless of its frequency and temperature)
It has non-adhesiveness, and the surface is difficult for other substances to adhere to.
The water absorption rate is extremely low, and it has a series of unique properties such as self-lubrication
and non-adhesiveness.
Strong weather resistance, and it can be used in outdoor environments for a long time with basically unchanged
performance.
Application fields of PTFE rods
Polytetrafuoroethyene rods come in two types: extrusion rods and molding rods. Among known plastics,
polytetrafluoroethylene has the most excellent chemical corrosion resistance and dielectric properties. It can
be used at temperatures ranging from -180℃ to +260 ℃ , and has the lowest friction coefficient. It is mainly
applicable to: sealing gaskets, sealing rings insulation parts, corrosion-resistant industries, mechanical
components, linings, petroleum and natural gas, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, instrument and
equipment manufacturers, etc.
Processing methods of PTFE rods
Extrusion molding: The polytetrafluoroethylene resin is extruded into a rod shape through an extruder.
Molding: Put the polytetrafluoroethylene powder into a mold and mold it into a rod shape under high
temperature and high pressure.
Turning processing: The polytetrafluoroethyene rod is processed through a turning machine tool to
obtain the required size and shape.
